Beach on the Gareloch at Helensburgh, Scotland

Seaweed covered rocky beach between Helensburgh and Rhu on the Gareloch with yacht masts at Rhu marina and the hills above Garelochhead in the background. Taken on a clear day in March 2012 during unseasonally warm weather. A sea-loch (Fjord) in the upper Firth of Clyde approx. 45 minutes journey from Glasgow, the Gareloch is a popular location for sailing and is the location of the Faslane naval base where the Royal Navy’s submarine fleet is based.
